Is it possible to have MTR Software develop a custom FitAll Function Library for me?

Yes. For more information see MTR Software's Consulting Services. go to top

I have successfully created several of my own specialized functions in FitAll and used them to good effect. However, with a couple of my functions, FitAll often, but not always, refuses to show the fit graph. Instead, the fit graph window is completely blank. Sometimes this also happens for the residuals graph. What's going on?

FitAll creates graphs 'off screen' before displaying them. If an error is encountered while constructing the graph, FitAll will abort the operation and may display an empty graph window or an error message. Sometimes it may close some other windows as well.

This problem is most frequently encountered when the function being evaluated or plotted causes an error such as a 'divide by zero', a 'numeric overflow' or an 'illegal floating point operation' like trying to take the logarithm or square root of a negative number.

The 'fix' is to define the function so that 'unusual' or 'special' values of the parameters and variables will not cause such errors.

Note: When FitAll is plotting a fit graph, it often sets one of the X-axis limits to zero and evaluates the function at that point -- this could cause the function evaluation to fail and may be the cause of your problem.
